Welcome

I’m Robin Opsahl, a political reporter for the Des Moines Register.

In 2018, I graduated from Medill School of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science, and a master’s degree in journalism with a focus in social justice and investigative reporting.

I have a wide range of experiences as a reporter, from covering the campaign trail to filing FOIA requests for in-depth investigative articles to using data to analyze trends and create interactive graphics for our stories. I have reported on a wide variety of topics as a news reporter, and am particularly interested in covering politics, equity and courts.

I’m a Wisconsin native: ask me about my favorite hiking spots, waterfalls and day trips if you need recommendations on a visit. (If you need recommendations for movies, music or video games, I have a lot of those too, but be prepared for some eclectic suggestions.)

Please visit my resume for more information on my work experience and contacts. As well, feel free to connect with social media, listed on the right.

Thank you for visiting!
